As some of you might know, the others will notice at least now, I am a big fan of the Atlantis opening book series.
So
big thanks to Bettina for keeping up posting it.
Especially for players with old crappy hardware like mine (Intel Q6600) this book scores very well in combination with Houdini 1.5a, giving you a good chnace against allmost every opponent playing with much stronger hardware and other opening books over which is made much more hype like Antimaster, Vesely and so on.
Last playchess tournament ended just a few moments ago and I again scored 8.0/15 which is great against such strong opponents ... and btw I gained another 40 ELO points.
I am trying out a lot of other books and never found a real alternative, since I am going down with them right from the start of each test losing a lot of games I would have had at least a chance to draw when I have used Atlantis instead.
When I gave Atlantis 3.0 to a friend on Playchess who never reached more than 2500 ELO he was able to get himself as high as 2670 ELO the other day. He has also poor hardware was more than astonished to be part of that "miracle"
So after all, if you can't share my enthusiasm, you should give this little gem a chance ... it is at least as strong as any other of the new opening books around.
See you on Playchess to find out, me using my old Quad and Atlantist - if you don't trust me
