Peter Skinner [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] apologised to the computer chess community for allowing Rybka to participate in his CCT tournaments even though he knew since 2005 that Rybka was a Fruit clone.

Quote:
If you look back through the archives, I called Rybka a clone back in 2005 and was raked over the coals like crazy. In fact I was the first one to do so.

Not only have I repeated this position over the years; I have been proven correct.

With that said, I have never paid for a version of Rybka and Vas has known all along my feelings on the matter, yet always sent me a version for my individual testing for free.

So on one hand, I feel less cheated than some, but actually more than most due to being the CCT TD.

I was one of the 34 people on the Wiki that put in opinions and read all the evidence. I won't hide that fact, as I have never hid my opinion from anyone.

Personally, I want to Vas to say _something_. Silence is not golden in situations like this. I personally don't need an apology from him, but I think he needs to put his cards on the table and face the music.

While he obviously improved on the code that was _copied_ verbatim, I can't ignore that copying. It happened, and the proof is in the pudding.

So I would like to apologize to the community as well due to allowing Rybka to participate in the CCT events. I am sorry I enabled these actions to take place.

Peter Skinner
CCT TD
