Hitman and Defender are probably the same book, didn't anyone notice
they played exactly the same openings? Only, defender was setted with a
little more variety than hitman.
I think the author changed his name (his own name and his book name, that he sent twice to Sedat).
Another
possibility is that he sent his book to a friend, his friend changed
some minor things and the name, and he sent that book to Sedat too. But I
don't believe too much in this second possibility.
So, I consider my
book to have reached third place, not fourth :-) (as one of the two,
Hitman or Defender, should be disqualified)
Anyway, as
Hitman/Defender reached first and second place, it really means it was
the strongest book of this tournament, so I congratulate its author,
even if he's a cheater ;-)
Eros.

I thought you might be engaging in hyperbole when you said "exactly the
same openings", but I can confirm that they ARE exactly the same
openings, on both sides of the board, and the similarities are not even
the slightest bit subtle. These are very similar books playing.
I
referred their 1.e3 line to my big book and tried to find which game
was closest to the game it would play if faced with white's moves. I
wasn't paying attention to who was playing, but I had to laugh when it
turned out to be Defender-Hitman!
1.e3 Nf6 2.Nc3 e5 3.d4 exd4
4.exd4 d5 5.Nf3 Bd6 6.Bd3 O-O 7.Be3 Nc6 8.a3 h6 9.O-O is not a bad
position for black and follows the Hitman/Defender book line for white.
But nobody played that line.
On the other side, Hitman/Defender played Dragon consistently and my line would go
1.e4
c5 2.Nf3 d6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 Nf6 5.Nc3 g6 6.Be3 Bg7 7.f3 O-O 8.Qd2 a6
9.O-O-O Nc6 10.g4 Bd7 11.h4 Rb8 12.Kb1 h5 13.g5 Ne8 14.f4 Nc7 15.f5 Ne5
This
line was seen in three games, against Jeandis, Jakal and Babban. It
leaves white in a pretty strong position from which anyone can form a
more elaborated attack.

The bookmakers of Hitman and Defender have a lot of explaining things to do.

Books are similar but not identical. e.g.:
rnbqk1nr/ppp2ppp/3b4/3p4/3P4/5N2/PPP2PPP/RNBQKB1R w KQkq - 0 5
Hitman plays 5)c4 here but Defender plays 5)Bb5+ without fail.
I wonder how many of the bookmakers were prepared for being lured into an exchange french on the black side

>Hitman and Defender are probably the same book....
Hello Dear Eros,
You don't need to worry....you are actually at third place (calculated by BayesElo)
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]And now about the current story...
It's too early to make any conclusions...
From my experience i can say, with respect to all:
-i did not notice so far any original work which all lines/ideas to belong to only one Book Author
In other words, all books are imported by games, that means all books are each other relative
Of
course,i appreciate a lot the Top Book Makers which spend many efforts
for creating new and stronger variations that never played before
And now back again about the current story:everything can be possible...
As far as i know, nowadays its very simple and easy to copy/clone the strongest lines from some well-known Top Book Makers
I
really wonder too,how many people will copy/clone (or maybe already
copied/cloned) the strongest lines/moves played out in SCCT VIII ?!
Btw,i
have sent a private message to Eduardo Kojı,probably after his replay i
will make a more serious statement about the current issue
Best Regards,
Sedat
