Houdini tests Empty
PostSubject: Houdini tests   Houdini tests EmptyWed Jun 02, 2010 9:09 pm

At risk of dampening celebrations i do not see this engine as a threat in its present stages anyway , it is not 100 % stable as it caused exceptions twice , its also slower than IvanHoe engines , but is equal in strength to some , perhaps when source code is shown engine will benifit from decent paramiters , untill then it will remain only as a contender for second or third place ,at least as more than a 2 core engine

Not totally true on having no threat potential. It does have threat potential. It maybe the best engine yet.
true it does crash but. here is my results

Houdini x64 popcnt_8 vs Rybka SSE4.2 x64 6 threads vs 6 thread, ponder on, hash 1gb rybka 3 book .book depth 10 moves max.

TC 3' +1

Houdini with 4 wins, 1 loss, and 5 draws. +107 elo

10 games thus far not a bad start for houdini. Will try more games later to add to the testing done. But seeing the engine crash does suck.

suggest you dispense with american language and re read my post as "Queens English " or google " nt in present stages anyway " or engage eyes and brain before fingers if critising a female whoose just awoken
As for your acertion it may be best engine yet , i suggest you clarify that as i will not be called a lier by you or anyone else..the majority of chess players / game players do not have i7s and quads seem to have surpassed 2 core pc's in popularity , now put money where mouth is and test on quad as well, or rephrase your post please

As much as i laugh at Kraniums claim that his wee dodgem fire engine is strongest in world ( his world is possibly his friends and called Uranus ) i have to be honest and write
"please discount last 20 games " as fire bug crashed in them while i fell asleep so all were less than 10 moves per game time lose
But correct results still a slapping and kick up Uranus for Mega Motor mouth lier kranium

+13 = 27 -6

To clarify matters further we add our thoughts that at different time controls engine may perform better
But 10 Ten minutes games dont make it look any stronger vrs DR4 , we have not got time to make longer tests as the instability factor of this engine and indeed fire bug cause the need to monitor the games either are used for and we simply cannot do that at present 😢

I am not here to be little you. I apologize for any miss understanding. I am simplely reporting my findings. Has nothing to do with you being a woman. So no need to attack in that matter. And yes it is very likely that the engine will perform differently under different conditions. This engine just so happened to perform very well for me. It is likely to be very close over all to Rybka 4. This has been confirmed in tests on other sites based on atleast 100 games. One tester had out of 100 houdini was only down by 2 games which not really signficant in losses.

Interestingly Here is my results with houdini vs rybka 4

TC 3' +1 29 games thus far.

Houdini with 10 wins, 4 losses, 15 draws, +72 elo over Rybka 4.

This engine does crash quite often. 3 times since the start of this tournement.

Good work of Houdini!

MAGIA-HOUDINI, Blitz 1m 0

1 IvanHoe-B 63Mod12c POPCNT +8/=44/-8 50.00% 30.0/60 0.00
2 Houdini 1.01 x64 POPCNT 4_CPU +8/=44/-8 50.00% 30.0/60 0.00

Yes, I know, 1 min is not one of the best times, but I had no time to make 60 games of 5 min (my favourite).
IvanHoe was always winning the tournament but in the last 10 games Houdini made some of its tricks and drew the match!

Great improvement here

[img][You must be registered and logged in to see this link.][/img]

Please note that whilst this engine says 8 core it can be set to less than 8 in engines paramiters
, this test was done on quad core so paramiters were set to 4 threads
