Yesterday I've made the compilation of 52cU containing
software emulation of popcnt instruction optimised for SSE3 CPU's.
I knew about this optimisation about 2 weeks from jc.m's post,
but only yesterday guessed how it can be simply realised.
This night I ran this SSE3 optimised version in 210 blitz 1+0 games versus
T52C (which I suspect is SSE3 optimized as well). The result was very pleasant
1 Ivanhoe 52cA-SSE3-x64 +2 +26/=156/-25 50.24% 104.0/207
2 IvanHoe T52C x64 -2 +25/=156/-26 49.76% 103.0/207
(3 "no move" bugs, all of them -- in T52C
Though this result shows that 52cA-SSE3 and T52C are equal yet from statistical
point of view, 52cA-SSE3 seems to be "more equal" than T52C
So for those having Intel Core (or Core 2) Duo or Quad it is recommended to use 52cA-SSE3
instead of 52cA-noPopcnt.
