| My Deep Fritz 11 gui recommends that using a setting up to 8mb cache for egtb is best. But can anyone help/tell me if there are any better settings please?. I have been told the egtb cache on gui should be between 1/8 and 1/4 of the engines hashtable!! I use Houdini 2.0 on 512mb hash 8 minute blitz games, with gaviato egtb set on 8mb cache. HELP!!! | |

St Peter,
I don't use Gaviota but for Nalimov EGTBs - if you are using anything more then just 3/4 man EGTBs then you should set the tablebase cache to 64Mb for it to have enough memory to operate effectively. Any less and you may have issues. This has been proved in many tests and game playing experience, so don't listen if anyone tells you only need 4Mb or 8Mb !

goldminer_ 999 recommends 64 mb if you use " more " than 4 man base's and your pc has sufficient memory for it | |
